Technology on Campus
Do you need to go out and buy a brand new computer? Maybe.
If homework is not found in a book, it will often be done online through systems like MasteringEngineering, WebAssign, Sapling, or LonCapa. Open computer labs (with available printing) are found throughout the campus, but working in a lab all the time is not always enjoyable and can be inconvenient. If you are looking to buy a computer, a laptop is generally the way to go. It can be a good investment. Taking notes on an iPad or Android tablet, while possible, is often cumbersome. (And some programs you use at Mines will simply not run on a tablet.) In the end, most students pick a laptop as their computer of choice.
